2nd EIC Portfolio Meeting in Grenoble

On 5–6 February 2026, the HaloFreeEtch project participated in the European Innovation Council (EIC) Annual Portfolio Meeting on Responsible Electronics, hosted by Grenoble INP – UGA in Grenoble, France.

The two-day meeting brought together projects from the EIC Responsible Electronics portfolio to present their first-year results, exchange knowledge, and strengthen collaboration across research, industry, and policy communities working toward more sustainable electronics technologies.

During the portfolio session, HaloFreeEtch coordinator Jörg Schuster (TU Chemnitz) presented the project’s progress achieved in the first year, highlighting advances in the development of halogen-free etching processes for semiconductor manufacturing and the strong collaboration established across the consortium.

The event also included working group sessions dedicated to:

  • technical synergies among portfolio projects,

  • outreach and public engagement activities,

  • life-cycle assessment and sustainability metrics,

  • protection and exploitation strategies.

In addition to project presentations, the programme featured expert talks, round-table discussions, and networking opportunities with startups, researchers, and innovation stakeholders working in the responsible electronics ecosystem.

Participation in the portfolio meeting confirmed the importance of cross-project collaboration and knowledge sharing to accelerate innovation and support Europe’s transition toward sustainable semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.

HaloFreeEtch will continue contributing actively to the portfolio activities in the coming months.
